The Jacksonville Police Department is inviting the community to come together in remembrance of fallen officers.

A ceremony will be held Friday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at the Jacksonville Public Safety Remembrance Garden and Fountain, located behind the Public Safety Building on Chaney Avenue.

The event, which is open to the public, will honor local officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Organizers say the ceremony will last about 45 minutes and will include both seating and standing room for attendees.

A portion of Chaney Avenue will be closed during the event to accommodate those attending.

Visitors are encouraged to park at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office public parking lot across the street and walk to the ceremony, as parking at the Public Safety Building is limited.

Officials are thanking the community in advance for supporting the families of fallen officers and helping honor their service and sacrifice.

The Jacksonville Police Department is inviting the community to come together in remembrance of fallen officers.
