The Florida Chamber of Commerce released its 2026 Legislative Report Card<\/a>, where it ranked lawmakers based on their advocacy for the business community.<\/p>\n

Thirty-five lawmakers from the House and Senate received 100% score from the Chamber.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world is continuing to watch Florida and paying attention to our economic progress and competitiveness,\u201d said Florida Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Wilson in a statement. \u201cThe decisions policymakers make will either continue our economic momentum and job creation or risk slowing it down.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chamber rated lawmakers who were supporting its legislative priorities<\/a>. The Chamber was supportive of legislation signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis last week that dealt a big blow to unions<\/a>. The organization has pushed for more development-friendly legislation as well as measures to fight healthcare worker shortages and increase affordable housing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Report Card highlights lawmakers who worked to protect Florida from out-of-state and special interests who push policies that would make Florida more like California, New York, and Illinois, states many businesses and residents are fleeing for Florida,\u201d the Chamber said in a press release. \u201cThe Report Card also lets Florida families, small businesses, taxpayers, and voters know who voted in favor of private sector job creation and a stronger, more diversified economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lawmakers\u2019 work is not done in Tallahassee just yet. They are expected to return to pass the budget and debate local property taxes.<\/p>\n

The Chamber said it may update the 2026 grades or release a separate 2026 Special Session Report Card.<\/p>\n

In addition, seven Republican lawmakers were honored by the 2026 Distinguished Advocate Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They were: Sen. Danny Burgess<\/a>, Jonathan Martin<\/a>, Stan McClain<\/a> and Reps. Wyman Duggan<\/a>, Richard Gentry<\/a>, J.J. Grow<\/a> and Jenna Persons-Mulicka<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Florida Chamber Distinguished Advocate Award recognizes lawmakers who ensured consideration of the business community\u2019s legislative priorities and fought tirelessly for the passage of a Chamber-backed policy or a priority piece of pro-jobs legislation,\u201d the Chamber said in a press release.<\/p>\n
