{"id":259071,"date":"2026-05-05T11:06:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T11:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/259071\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T11:06:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T11:06:08","slug":"officers-shoot-kill-man-who-pointed-gun-at-them-after-he-kicked-down-doors-to-random-homes-on-southside-jso-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/259071\/","title":{"rendered":"Officers shoot, kill man who pointed gun at them after he kicked down doors to random homes on Southside, JSO says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Investigators said officers responded to Rigel Road around 11:30 p.m. Monday after neighbors called saying the man kicked down their doors holding a gun.<\/p>\n<p>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A man is dead after JSO investigators said he pointed a gun at them when they responded to him kicking down doors to random homes on Jacksonville&#8217;s Southside late Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Jacksonville Sheriff&#8217;s Office investigators said officers responded to Rigel Road around 11:30 p.m. Monday to calls for armed criminal mischief.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said the man kicked down the doors to four homes in the area, holding a handgun and confronting several residents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When officers arrived and began speaking with the victims, investigators said the man approached officers and pointed the handgun at them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Officers ordered the man to drop the gun, but investigators said he did not, and that&#8217;s when four officers opened fire, killing him.
