Apopka Florist, which had operated on Main Street for about 50 years<\/a>\u00a0before\u00a0relocating\u00a0to its new space at Wekiva Riverwalk. Cabrera acknowledged the move carried risk.\u00a0<\/p>\n\u201cWe took a big gamble,\u201d he said. \u201cBut with the expansion and what we were able to build, we think this is a perfect location.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s event drew an estimated 600 attendees, according to Cabrera, and was designed as more than a traditional ribbon cutting. The celebration included vendors, entertainment such as a musician, ice sculptor and a children\u2019s dance team, and local businesses such as Subway and Hurricane Grills and Wings, reflecting the company\u2019s broader mission.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0just do a grand opening or a ribbon cutting. We\u00a0did\u00a0a block party,\u201d Cabrera said, adding that the business model was to get the community together.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Bloom Lounge,\u00a0located\u00a0at 2121 E. Semoran Blvd., features a range of offerings, including a podcast studio, coworking areas, meeting\u00a0rooms\u00a0and a coffee shop. Cabrera said feedback from the grand opening suggested the studio may be a standout feature.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI really think it\u2019s going to be the podcast studio,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople were so impressed, and a lot of the people that gave us feedback said that they can\u2019t believe that there\u2019s a space like that here in Apopka, that you would see something like that more in downtown Orlando,\u201d Cabrera said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Bloom Lounge already has a \u201clong list of people\u201d interested in the podcast\u00a0studio,\u00a0every space of the business was designed with a purpose.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think when people come and see it for themselves, they\u2019re going to be impressed with all the different spaces that are available,\u201d Cabrera said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Cabrera said the immediate goal is simple: \u201cWe really just want people to know we\u2019re here and what we have to offer.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The business plans to host regular events in the coming weeks, including a Mother\u2019s Day yoga event on May 10 and a June 27 book swap, as well as Bible studies, book club meetings, jazz nights, and workshops and classes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
