The Sanibel Public Library District\u2019s board recently filled two open seats on the commission.<\/p>\n
At their meeting on March 26, the district\u2019s Board of Commissioners appointed Michelle Walker and Sandon Shepard to Seats 3 and 6, respectively, in separate motions with unanimous votes of 5-0.<\/p>\n
Walker fills the seat of Melanie Congress, who resigned effective Jan. 23.<\/p>\n
Shepard fills the seat of Nicole Decker-McHale, who resigned effective Feb. 19.<\/p>\n
Chair Linda Uhler, Vice Chair Shelley Greggs, Treasurer Sandra Zahorchak, Secretary Chelle Koster Walton and Commissioner Ellen Vinciguerra voted in support of the appointments.<\/p>\n
At the April 23 meeting, Walker and Shepard each took the oath of office and were sworn in.<\/p>\n
They will serve until the General Election this year.<\/p>\n
The district is governed by a seven-member board of commissioners, elected by the voters of Sanibel for four-year terms. The board sets the millage rate, prepares, considers and adopts a budget, sets policy, and employs an executive director to be the administrator and manager of the Sanibel library.<\/p>\n
The board meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
