Avery Associate Professor in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jimmorancollege.fsu.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship<\/a>,\u00a0gives students direct experience evaluating product performance while also supporting faculty research and industry partnerships.<\/p>\n<p> <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-127703 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Meredith-McQuerry-Web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\"  \/>Associate Professor Meredith McQuerry leads FSU\u2019s Textile Testing Lab, where students use industry-standard equipment to analyze how fabrics withstand pressure, heat, moisture and wear. (Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship) <\/p>\n<p>Funding from the Student Technology Fee,\u00a0a resource managed by FSU\u2019s Information Technology Services\u00a0that has distributed more than $72 million across campus to support instructional technology since 2010,\u00a0has reshaped the lab, allowing it to replace most of its core equipment and keep pace with industry standards.\u00a0McQuerry called the support transformational.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lab is used first and foremost as a teaching space,\u201d she said. \u201cStudents\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0just read about testing standards. They perform the tests themselves.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cannot stress enough how transformational the Student Technology Fee funding program has been,\u201d McQuerry said. \u201cI have applied for it nearly every year I have been here, and we are so grateful to have received funding to replace almost every single piece of equipment in\u00a0the\u00a0Textile\u00a0Testing\u00a0Lab.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That hands-on work is central to the lab\u2019s role.
