A restaurant west of Kendall racked up 38 violations on an inspection last week.<\/p>\n
More roaches than sanitizer and more \u201csoiled\u201d surfaces sanitized ones shut down a West Miami-Dade restaurant after an inspection last week.<\/p>\n
While the roach count at Mr. and Mrs. Bun, 15572 SW 72nd St., wasn\u2019t overwhelming, any number of roaches exceeded the amount sanitizer \u2014 none \u2014 during the inspection.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s start with that in a listing of lowlights from April 28\u2019s routine inspection that found 38 total violations including six high priority ones<\/p>\n
The inspector \u201cobserved food contact surfaces were not properly sanitized.\u201d That\u2019s because there was \u201cno sanitizer available of any kind. Only use single-service items to serve food to customers until sanitizer is available for warewashing.\u201d<\/p>\n
That takes care of one of a three-compartment sink\u2019s trio of duties \u2014 wash, rinse, sanitize. \u201cNo soap at the three-compartment sink\u201d leaves only rinse among the sink\u2019s capabilities. The sink also was described as \u201csoiled with grease.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another place sans soap: the dry storage area handwashing sink. That sink and the one next to the oven also lacked paper towels.<\/p>\n
Under the oven lay four roach corpses and crawled nine live roaches. Two live roaches sashayed across the middle of the kitchen floor.<\/p>\n
\u201cDisplayed food not properly protected from contamination.\u201d Where? There was an \u201cice machine full of ice with no lid\u201d at the front counter area.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Walmart and Aldi frozen pizzas included in a salmonella public health alert<\/a><\/p>\n Similarly, one reach-in cooler stored uncovered sweet potato fries and dumplings and another one contained uncovered boneless chicken wings.<\/p>\n \u201cFood-contact surface soiled with food debris, mold-like substance or slime;.\u201d Under that violation, the inspector listed kitchen \u201cshelves for dry dishes and dry food racks;\u201d the \u201cinterior of a reach-in cooler soiled with food residue;\u201d the three-compartment sink\u2019s spray hose; the dry storage area\u2019s mixing machine and slicer machine were \u201cheavily soiled.\u201d<\/p>\n The food preparation sink \u201chas soil\/old food residue.\u201d The handwashing sink next to the oven also was \u201csoiled.\u201d<\/p>\n The walls next to the three-compartment sink were \u201csoiled with food residue and grease.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGrease on the ground and\/or pad around grease receptacle\u201d as in the \u201cgrease trap is on top of grass.\u201d<\/p>\n The microwave oven was \u201csoiled with accumulation of food debris and grease.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the reach-in coolers had \u201cshelves with mold-like substance.\u201d Two reach-ins had \u201csoiled\u201d gaskets.<\/p>\n Also soiled were the door handles on a kitchen reach-in cooler, another cooler and a microwave.<\/p>\n Mr. and Mrs. Bun passed the callback inspection enough to reopen on Thursday.<\/p>\n This story was originally published May 5, 2026 at 12:32 PM.<\/p>\n
