HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – Crews battled fierce flames after a fire broke out overnight in a home in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
Hollywood Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the blaze at 6780 Harding St., just after 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a house on fire,\u201d said a caller in a 911 call.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you see flames or smoke?\u201d said the dispatcher.<\/p>\n
\u201cFlames, flames, it\u2019s flaming,\u201d said the caller.<\/p>\n
Cameras captured massive yellow flames illuminating the residential block where the house is located, as the fire tore through the property.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome guy says \u2018It\u2019s a fire! It\u2019s a fire!\u2019 said a resident. \u201cAnd my husband says \u2018Don\u2019t go out, don\u2019t go out,\u201d My other son, my stepson goes to open the door, \u2018No no, go watch if it\u2019s a fire or not. He goes and says \u2018Yes mom, yes dad, it\u2019s a fire.’\u201d<\/p>\n
Crews spent hours at the scene, as they extinguished the flames and hot spots.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, the fire is coming. I say \u2018Oh my God, we lost the house, we lost the house, we lost the house.’\u201d said the resident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis house had heavy flames coming from not only from the roof, but also multiple windows,\u201d said Hollywood Fire Rescue Chief Jeffery Levy. <\/p>\n
7 Drone Force hovered above firefighters as they doused the flames from the ground and heavy smoke blanketed the block.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirefighters made frantic attempts to try and get inside to ensure that nobody was inside. Unfortunately, we were not able to get inside due to the extreme heat and the fire conditions.\u201d said Levy. \u201cHollywood Police Department were able to run the tags on the cars, get in touch with the owner, and confirm that there was nobody inside.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, neighbors tried their best to protect their properties.<\/p>\n
\u201cMe and my dad were in the backyard, and we were just hosing down everything around us so that it wouldn\u2019t spread.\u201d said a neighbor.<\/p>\n
After daybreak, 7News cameras showed the extent of the destruction.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so lucky, thank God,\u201d said a resident.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, no one was home at the time the fire started. No firefighters were hurt.<\/p>\n
Fire crews told 7News that the fire jumped to a neighbor\u2019s Jacuzzi, but firefighters quickly put out the fire and prevented the spread.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
