The new spot is currently under construction at The Cove at 47th in downtown Cape Coral, with a December opening on the horizon.While the idea of a cannabis caf\u00e9 might raise some eyebrows, co-founder Cole Peacock told Gulf Coast News it\u2019s really about giving people clean, healthy options. \u201cThe food is organic, natural, clean eats. We don\u2019t have a fryer; we use air fryers. So it’s even cleaner food,\u201d Peacock said.The caf\u00e9 will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with most menu items made in-house. And if you want to add a little CBD to your coffee or lemonade? Totally up to you. \u201cYou’ll have the opportunity if you want to purchase low-grade THC or CBD products that are approved federally. If you like to infuse them into your food, we have that option as well,\u201d Peacock added.Not everyone in Cape is totally high on the idea. Some neighbors Gulf Coast News talked to weren\u2019t sure how a cannabis-themed caf\u00e9 would vibe with the city\u2019s scene. “I’m not into it,” said Margie Cronin. “I wouldn’t say it would go over really big, but you never know.”But some like Michele Roy, who lives just a few blocks away, say it\u2019s time to shake things up. \u201cYou know what they used to call this? Cape Coma,\u201d she said with a laugh. \u201cI think you need to open your mind a little bit to it\u2026 cannabis would be kind of exciting.\u201dAnd legally? They\u2019re in the clear. The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp and its byproducts, including CBD, legal nationwide\u2014as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC. Seed and Bean’s products stick to that rule, using federally approved CBD and low-grade THC products, available to infuse only if customers ask for it.Peacock says the caf\u00e9\u2019s not trying to be controversial.
