{"id":260755,"date":"2026-05-06T15:48:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/260755\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T15:48:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:48:14","slug":"st-petersburg-police-honor-15-fallen-officers-during-annual-memorial-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/260755\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Petersburg Police honor 15 fallen officers during annual memorial ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/y4h6tgw8nm9xecfw.jpg\" alt=\"St. Petersburg Police honor fallen officers\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-4292be72=\"\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">The St. Petersburg Police Department held a ceremony honoring its 15 fallen officers killed in the line of duty.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTVT\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-871f4c88=\"\">The Ceremony:<\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">It started\u00a0at 8:00am at\u00a0the Heroes of St. Pete Police and Fire Monument at Demons Landing Park.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/vlcsnap-2026-05-06-10h36m05s456.png\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" data-v-2fe2fe3e=\"\"\/>  <\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">Police Chief Anthony Holloway was in attendance alongside Mayor Ken Welch and members of city council.<\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">Law enforcement agencies from around the Tampa Bay area also joined the honor guard for this memorial service to help remember and honor those fallen heroes as well as those from around the nation.<\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">It\u2019s a ceremony that makes a big impact each year, remembering and honoring those who have sacrificed so much.<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/vlcsnap-2026-05-06-10h36m32s689.png\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" data-v-2fe2fe3e=\"\"\/>  <\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">&#8220;It\u2019s very important because we want to make sure we remind families that we\u2019re not going to forget about those 15 men who put their lives on the lives each and every day and again, those officers who put their uniforms on every day that we honor them. We respect them, we will always pay tribute to those who have gone before them,&#8221; Chief Holloway said.<\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">The 15 officers honored included:<\/p>\n<p> James J. MitchellEdward A. GeorgeWayne M. BarryEugene W. MinorFrank A. PikeJames W. ThorntonWilliam G. NewberryJames J. GoodsonGene A. BessetteJames A. KruppCharles L. EustesHerbert R. SullivanJeffrey A. YaslowitzThomas J. BaitingerDavid S. Crawford <\/p>\n<p data-v-871f4c88=\"\">The deaths spanned from 1905 to 2011.
