ST. CLOUD, Fla. \u2014\u00a0Traffic congestion is a daily concern for some Osceola County residents while driving on Narcoossee Road and Cyrils Drive. There are multiple projects that Osceola County, Orlando and state transportation officials are working to address the issues. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Residents say they\u2019re discouraged about the toll that traffic backups are taking on them.<\/p>\n
David Huynh lives along Cyrils Drive, where the Sunbridge development is located. \u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe life at Sunbridge is great. It\u2019s a nature community where it\u2019s a family oriented. There\u2019s activities for everybody,\u201d Huynh said. \u201cBut then you\u2019ve got traffic. There\u2019s one way in and out. So that\u2019s a big issue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Huynh said there is a need for more traffic resources for Sunbridge residents, who face long wait times in the mornings and evenings during rush hour traffic.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike I know Sunbridge Parkway is coming, but that\u2019s going to be like 2029,\u201d he said. \u201cEven in the afternoons, if you\u2019re out here from 4 to 7, you\u2019ll be stuck heading from Lake Nona down to St. Cloud.\u201d<\/p>\n
Commissioner Tom Keen with the City of Orlando\u2019s District 1 said there are many ongoing projects involving multiple jurisdictions to address these issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is challenging for the folks that live here, and it\u2019s one of the concerns I get all the time. I think residents should know that we\u2019re working daily to try to relieve some of that pressure,\u201d Keen said.<\/p>\n
Keen said the city of Orlando is constantly communicating with Osceola County to address these issues long-term. Commissioner Ricky Booth from Osceola County District 5 confirmed that Osceola County is working with Orlando officials to resolve the congestion.<\/p>\n
Keen said creating alternative routes for drivers is one way they\u2019re aiming to resolve the issues, like investing in Boggy Creek Road\u2019s expansion.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though that\u2019s an Osceola County project, the city provides over … or will provide over $6 million worth of economic impact or direct dollars, basically, to Osceola County for their construction,\u201d Keen said.<\/p>\n
During Monday\u2019s Osceola County Commission meeting, the final acceptance of Cyrils Drive widening and improvements<\/a> project from Narcoossee to Absher Road was approved by the commission.<\/p>\n
