Florida\u2019s current supermajority Republican congressional delegation is merely average when it comes to delivering what faith-based employers want, according to the Christian Employers Alliance\u2019s (CEA) Congressional Biblical Business Index<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rankings represent what the CEA calls \u201ca network of more than 30,000 faith-based employers across all 50 states \u2014 including many of the nation\u2019s largest faith-based organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the Sunshine State is neither heaven nor hell, but somewhere in between.<\/p>\n

Florida comes in at a middling 25th place, falling four spots from the previous year, and tying for the third-worst drop in \u201cbiblical alignment,\u201d with Iowa and Connecticut.<\/p>\n

\u201cToo often, business rankings focus only on taxes and regulations,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Margaret Iuculano<\/a>, President of Christian Employers Alliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese rankings are designed to help faith-based business leaders make informed decisions about where to invest, grow, and create jobs by showing business leaders where states are trending both economically and socially. They highlight where faith-based employers can most freely operate according to their religious beliefs, and where lawmakers are most consistently voting in alignment with biblical principles.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CEA said it \u201cexamined the voting records of all 535 members of Congress, ultimately ranking all 50 state congressional delegations on their alignment with the \u2018biblically based position\u2019 by tallying more than 82,000 votes cast by lawmakers\u201d and by \u201capplying a clearly defined methodology grounded in Scripture, limited government, and longstanding Judeo-Christian social principles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Six Florida members of Congress<\/a> were in the top 51 on the index, including U.S. Sen. Rick Scott and U.S. Reps.\u00a0Greg Steube,\u00a0Byron Donalds,\u00a0Anna Paulina Luna,\u00a0Aaron Bean\u00a0and\u00a0Kat Cammack.<\/p>\n

The CEA also ranked members of the Legislature<\/a>.<\/p>\n

State Rep. Webster Barnaby led the pack, followed by state Reps. John Snyder and\u00a0Monique Miller, state Sen.\u00a0Don Gaetz, and state Reps. Lawrence McClure and\u00a0Paula Stark.<\/p>\n
