<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\tFlorida Highway Patrol troopers sprang into action to save a lost dog that was wandering through the streets of Cape Coral early Thursday morning.The Malinois was seen running on the sidewalk of Del Prado Boulevard near SE 15th Terrace at approximately 2:40 a.m. It then dashed between some houses along SW 16th Street and jumped into a saltwater-filled canal.FHP State Trooper Quinlan Ogdon found the dog whimpering in the canal and took some rope to make a makeshift slip to help the dog reach a floating dock area.Ogdon took a tumble into the canal as he was helping the dog onto the dock, but the dog was still safely taken out of the canal, FHP said.According to FHP, the dog was taken to a vet clinic for an examination and a bath, and Lee County Animal Control was notified.
