{"id":262755,"date":"2026-05-08T00:06:19","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T00:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/262755\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T00:06:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T00:06:19","slug":"man-with-lengthy-criminal-record-wanted-in-south-miami-car-burglary-cops-say-nbc-6-south-florida-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/262755\/","title":{"rendered":"Man with lengthy criminal record wanted in South Miami car burglary, cops say \u2013 NBC 6 South Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man with a lengthy criminal record is being sought in a car burglary in South Miami that was caught on camera, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect, 48-year-old Walter Tyson Gervais, was described by South Miami Police as having an &#8220;extensive criminal past.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday at a parking garage at 5950 Southwest 74th Street when Gervais was caught on surveillance cameras trying to open the doors of two vehicles, police said.<\/p>\n<p>He was eventually able to enter a vehicle and rummaged through it before opening the trunk and removing several items, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Gervais fled with about $200 worth of property from the victim, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Miami-Dade court records showed Gervais was previously arrested numerous times on charges including battery, trespassing, burglary, drug possession, grand theft, and disorderly intoxication.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is a career criminal, has over 36 pages of criminal history involving violent crimes, car break-ins, house break-ins, robberies,&#8221; South Miami Police Sgt.
