{"id":26303,"date":"2025-10-30T08:41:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T08:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/26303\/"},"modified":"2025-10-30T08:41:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T08:41:07","slug":"halloween-spending-should-break-record-buy-locally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/26303\/","title":{"rendered":"Halloween spending should break record, buy locally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As October nears its end, Floridians are ready to celebrate Halloween, and retailers are urging them to buy local to avoid any scary impacts on merchants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A National Retail Federation (<a href=\"https:\/\/nrf.com\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">NRF<\/a>) consumer <a href=\"https:\/\/nrf.com\/media-center\/press-releases\/nrf-consumer-survey-finds-halloween-spending-to-reach-record-13-1-billion\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">survey<\/a> shows that Americans are likely to spend a record amount on Halloween goods this year. According to the NRF report, 49% of Americans kicked off their Halloween shopping early, and they are expected to collectively spend $13.1 billion across the country on the festivities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That\u2019s substantially more than the 2024 figure of $11.6 billion, and it would be a record that would surpass the previous high set in 2023 at $12.2 billion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That $13.1 billion amount would come out to $114.45 being spent per person. That\u2019s an $11 increase per person from last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Florida Retail Federation (<a href=\"https:\/\/frf.org\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">FRF<\/a>) is in a campaign to guide Sunshine State consumers to their local stores during the Halloween season. The organization says that buying local will be less frightening for local economies when shoppers purchase from stores in their own town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFlorida retailers are ready for a frightfully festive season,\u201d said Scott Shalley, President and CEO of the FRF. \u201cWhether you\u2019re stocking up on candy or crafting the perfect costume, shopping early means you\u2019ll get the best selection while supporting local retailers. And don\u2019t let last-minute shopping haunt you; make sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/frf.org\/find-it-in-florida\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Find It In Florida<\/a> when picking up all the seasonal surprises.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Find It In Florida is an FRF initiative aimed at encouraging state residents to shop in Florida, and the organization amplifies this effort during holidays and special events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NRF survey shows 3 out of every 4 Floridians plan to celebrate Halloween this year, or about 73%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some 66% of Americans will do that by handing out candy.
