TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)\u2014 Two Tampa men were convicted of distributing fentanyl that killed a University of South Florida student.<\/p>\n
A federal jury found Miguel Cintron, 38, and Darrius Gustafson, 22, guilty of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl that resulted in death, the Department of Justice announced.<\/p>\n
According to evidence and testimony at trial, Cintron, Gustafson, David Chudhabuddhi, and Marquis Trant distributed a lethal amount of fentanyl to a USF student.<\/p>\n
After the victim died, the four continued to distribute fentanyl to undercover deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
According to the DOJ, all four were arrested on April 10, 2024, and a search warrant was executed at Cintron\u2019s home, where they found more than seven kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl, and over $200,000.<\/p>\n
Chudhabuddhi and Trant pleaded guilty previously and are scheduled to be sentenced on June 18, 2026.<\/p>\n
Cintron and Gustafson face a minimum penalty of 20 years, up to life in prison. The sentencing date has not been set yet.<\/p>\n
