MIAMI \u2014 A Miami federal jury has reached a verdict Friday in the assassination trial connected to the killing of Haitian President Jovenel Mo\u00efse.<\/p>\n

The trial started on March 8 inside the Wilkie D. Ferguson Federal Courthouse \u2014 and after more than two months of testimony, jurors found all four defendants guilty on most counts.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say the men helped plan and support the operation that led to Mo\u00efse\u2019s assassination inside his home near Port-au-Prince on July 7, 2021.<\/p>\n

Antonio Intriago, the owner of a South Florida security company, was found guilty on nearly all counts against him, including conspiracy charges connected to the plot. <\/p>\n

But jurors found him not guilty on count seven of the indictment, a charge of conspiracy to kill or kidnap a person outside the United States.<\/p>\n

The other defendants \u2014 including Arcangel Pretel Ortiz, Walter Veintemilla, and James Solages \u2014 were also found guilty on multiple counts.<\/p>\n

Several members of South Florida\u2019s Haitian American community also packed the courthouse throughout the trial and many said they\u2019re thrilled the jury reached a verdict after years of waiting for answers. <\/p>\n
