OXFORD, Ohio \u2013 University of Massachusetts baseball dropped a 10-8 decision to Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon at McKie Field at Hayden Park. \u00a0

\nUMass moved to 17-26 overall, and 12-17 in the MAC, while Miami (OH) improved to 34-15 overall and 21-8 in the league.<\/p>\n
Anthony Tirado<\/a>, Reece McCarthy<\/a>, Braden Sullivan<\/a>, Ryan Kolben<\/a> and Matt Travisano<\/a> all had two hits each. Tirado, McCarthy and Kolben all registered a double. Gavin O’Brien<\/a> recorded his 13th home run of the year, solely taking over fifth in the single-season records in the category. O’Brien and Travisano scored two runs apiece, as four Minutemen tallied an RBI.

\nA sacrifice fly in the opening frame gave Miami (OH) a 1-0 lead early. The RedHawks pulled ahead 2-0 in the second, scoring on a throwing error.

\nMassachusetts got on the board in the top of the fourth as O’Brien led off with a solo home run, marking his 13th of the season, to make it a 2-1 contest. McCarthy then doubled down the right field line, before a sacrifice bunt advanced him to third. A sacrifice fly helped McCarthy across home plate to knot the game up 2-2.

\nMiami (OH) broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth to lead, 4-2, with a two-run home run to left field.

\nThe Minutemen took back a run in the top of the fifth as Travisano came home on a wild pitch to make it a 4-3 game. UMass then tied it up, 4-4, as Vance Bonior<\/a> scored from third on an error to first. McCarthy then singled to center field with O’Brien crossing the dish, giving Massachusetts the 5-4 lead.

\nThe RedHawks added a run in the bottom half of the inning to knot up the game at 5-5.

\nMassachusetts reclaimed the lead at 8-5 in the top of the sixth. Jack Beverly<\/a> started off the inning with a walk, before Travisano was hit by a pitch. Tirado doubled up the middle as Beverly came around to score to give UMass a 6-5 lead. With Travisano at third, a wild pitch allowed him to come home and move Tirado to third. Bonior was then walked. As Bonior stole second, Tirado was able to score on a throwing error by the shortstop to take the 8-5 advantage.

\nMiami (OH) notched three runs in the eighth to tie up the game once again, 8-8. The RedHawks recorded a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to win 10-8.

\nJack Niedringhaus<\/a> (1-2) took the loss for the Massachusetts, allowing three runs, three hits, a walk and striking out one in 0.2 innings.

\nAustin Berggren (3-4) had the win for Miami (OH), giving up no runs, one hit, no walks and dealing two strikeouts in one complete inning.
