{"id":266007,"date":"2026-05-10T22:03:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T22:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/266007\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T22:03:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T22:03:09","slug":"miami-dade-man-charged-with-poisoning-neighbors-cats-set-to-stand-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/266007\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami-Dade man charged with poisoning neighbor\u2019s cats set to stand trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0May 10, 2026 at 5:41 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla.  \u2014 A South Florida man is facing charges after allegedly poisoning his neighbor\u2019s cats. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On Monday, Chaim Gubitz will stand trail for animal cruelty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to authorities, tests confirmed that a woman\u2019s two pet cats, were both poisoned at their home along Northeast 119th Avenue in Biscayne Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said Gubitz, a neighbor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2025\/08\/22\/video-shows-biscayne-park-cat-poisoning-suspect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2025\/08\/22\/video-shows-biscayne-park-cat-poisoning-suspect\/\">would leave aluminum trays and plates with food mixed with poison along the fence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Soon after, pet cats Little and Stella died. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Surveillance video captured Gubitz placing more trays in the victim\u2019s yard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">She said she followed him to find out where he lived and then called police, who confirmed the presence of poison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThey were rescues and they were beloved family members,\u201d said pet owner Katherine. \u201cIt was incredibly painful to have such a loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Officers investigating the crime said what happened to those cats was cruel, excessive and unnecessary. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI was so horrified and so angry when I realized what had happened, when I realized that their lives were cut short not due to natural circumstances, but because they had been endangered by my neighbors,\u201d said Katherine. <\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 News From Your Neighborhood<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body__copyright\">Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Sanela Sabovic\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/https:\/\/author-service-images-sandbox-us-east-1.publishing.aws.arc.pub\/wplginc\/d5c3b100-ae4a-4c5c-aa.jpeg\"  width=\"100\" height=\"100\"\/>Sanela Sabovic<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-author-bio__author-description\">Sanela Sabovic joined Local 10 News in September 2012 as an assignment editor and associate producer.\u00a0In August 2015, she became a full-time reporter and fill-in traffic reporter.
