{"id":266634,"date":"2026-05-11T14:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T14:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/266634\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T14:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T14:32:10","slug":"attorneys-for-victim-of-fsu-shooting-file-lawsuit-against-openai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/266634\/","title":{"rendered":"Attorneys for victim of FSU shooting file lawsuit against OpenAI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DOWNTOWN TALLAHASSEE, FL \u2014 Attorneys on behalf of Tiru Chabba and his family, one of two people killed in the Florida State University shooting last April, have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>Bakari Sellers, Amy Willbanks of the Strom Law Firm, Gregorio Francis and J Robert Bell III of Osborne, Franics, and Pettis, and Jim Bannister of Bannister Wyatt and Stalvey are representing the Chabba family. <\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/scl\/fo\/qaabgkmlo7hvjf8jphrdd\/ANYjd_celRjUZk8tXls3OkI?dl=0&amp;e=1&amp;preview=Complaint_FILED.pdf&amp;rlkey=an5zc0zbeueei13kr1htu91zc&amp;st=z6x3bga9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">lawsuit<\/a> states they are seeking for &#8220;damages caused by the mass school shooting&#8221; for over $75,000. Attorneys Monday said they are seeking accountability and answers.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit alleged that Phoenix Ikner, the alleged gunman of the shooting, used ChatGPT&#8217;s &#8220;input and assistance&#8221; to carry out the shooting. <\/p>\n<p>This is one of at least <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wtxl.com\/downtown-tallahassee\/within-30-days-hopefully-less-tallahassee-attorneys-to-file-lawsuit-against-chatgpt-share-more-details\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three lawsuits<\/a> on the horizon for OpenAI, including one set to be filed by attorneys representing Robert Morales, the other person killed in the shooting, and the Attorney General of Florida. <\/p>\n<p>This story will be updated as we learn more. <\/p>\n<p>Want to see more local news?
