A Princess cruise ship docked in Port Canaveral on Monday after more than 100 passengers and crew members who were on board became ill with norovirus.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Caribbean Princess cruise ship left Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on April 29, and, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a total of 102 passengers and 13 crew members reported being sick.<\/p>\n

The CDC said the sicknesses accounted for about 3.3% of the 3,116 passengers and 1.2% of the crew on board the ship.<\/p>\n

NBC affiliate WESH spoke to several passengers who were on the ship including David Hanson, who said he was one of the first people who got the stomach bug.<\/p>\n

“Up all night, and then the next morning, we got the announcement that there were some issues, and they started increasing sanitation, cleaning, disinfecting,” he said. “Not letting you get your own food on the buffet.”<\/p>\n

Hanson said he thought it was food poisoning that caused his symptoms.<\/p>\n

WESH also spoke to two comedians who were performing on board the ship when the outbreak happened.<\/p>\n

“Norovirus is one of those things that can unfortunately happen sometimes on cruise ships,” Marcos Monroe said. “If you get it, it can last a couple days, and you’re good to go. I’ve never gotten it, thankfully.”<\/p>\n

Princess Cruises said that the people who were sick were isolated from the others, and the crew started doing increased cleaning and disinfecting.<\/p>\n
