BAY LAKE, Fla. \u2013 Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney World Resort<\/a>, announced he will retire from The Walt Disney Company.<\/p>\n

Vahle shared the news in a LinkedIn post on Monday, writing: \u201cToday, I shared with our team that after 36 years with Disney, I\u2019ll be retiring this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI started my career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom and I\u2019m wrapping it up with the best job ever, leading Walt Disney World into a period of remarkable growth in partnership with our incredible Cast Members and community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vahle became president in May 2020, stepping into the role during one of the most turbulent chapters in the resort\u2019s history. He navigated Walt Disney World through the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014 which forced a temporary shutdown of the resort \u2014 and led the landmark 50th anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During his tenure, Vahle and his team opened several major attractions, including Tiana\u2019s Bayou Adventure, TRON Lightcycle\/Run, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. New nighttime spectaculars debuted at both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.<\/p>\n

Vahle said he plans to remain in his role through late July. Before then, he noted several milestones ahead, including launching Cool Kids\u2019 Summer, opening Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, and debuting an updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting time at Walt Disney World, and I\u2019m looking forward to being part of it in the months ahead,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Vahle oversees a workforce of approximately 80,000 Cast Members across four theme parks, more than 25 resort hotels, two water parks, a sports complex, and a themed retail, dining, and entertainment district. He also oversees Worldwide Safety, Health, Engineering, and Sourcing for Disney Experiences.<\/p>\n
