Florida State football’s recruiting class is ranked outside the top-40, which is horrific compared to this proud program’s standards that the legendary Bobby Bowden built. It is tough times for the Seminoles, as they have combined to have seven wins in two seasons. <\/p>\n

Head coach Mike Norvell seems to be hanging on by a thread after the administration announced it would retain him for the 2026 season. Norvell had the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, with a combined 23 wins, but the consistency has not been there. <\/p>\n

The fan base has been wanting Coach Norvell out as the head coach since they lost to Stanford in an embarrassing game. While I understand that the administration didn’t want to pay his $50 million buyout after spending money on renovating Doak Campbell Stadium and building a football-only facility, it has come to a point where the losses cannot continue to happen. <\/p>\n

High school recruits take notice of the disappointing results, and Florida State has had six losing seasons in eight years. The Seminoles only have one prospect out of the six that they have committed that are four-stars, according to 247Sports Composite.<\/p>\n

Four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins cancels his official visit at Florida State<\/p>\n

Florida State fans want to see the talent come in, and I even highlighted in a piece that four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins <\/a>from Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia, was an interested candidate who could commit to the Seminoles. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Watkins announced via social media that he will no longer be officially visiting Florida State. <\/p>\n

Watkins was supposed to be officially visiting the Seminoles on the weekend of June 12th. Florida State doesn’t have a wide receiver committed in its class, but the Georgia native was supposed to be one of them in the fold soon when he decides to commit on July 1st. <\/p>\n

The other trips that he has this summer, other than Florida State, are Louisville, Arkansas, and Georgia Tech. Losing Watkins to one of those schools would be disappointing. Assistant coach Tim Harris Jr. is one of the best recruiters on staff, and maybe the Seminoles have a reason to mutually part ways. <\/p>\n

However, this is just another complaint from Florida State fans about this recruiting class. During last year’s recruiting cycle, three-star defensive end Cam Brooks from the same high school as Watkins committed to California, but then he ended up backing out of his pledge with the Golden Bears and signing with the Seminoles. <\/p>\n
