The Florida State Seminoles<\/a> are working to get involved in three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield’s recruitment, and a recent visit by safeties coach Evan Cooper has seemingly helped their cause.<\/p>\n

According to Zach Blostein of Noles247<\/a>, Whitfield is now set to officially visit FSU on June 9-10. Whitfield, who is from Orlando, is also set to officially visit the Florida Gators<\/a> (May 28), Oregon Ducks<\/a> (June 5), Nebraska Cornhuskers<\/a> (June 12), and Virginia Tech Hokies<\/a> (June 19).<\/p>\n

While FSU extended Whitfield a scholarship offer back on June 15, 2025, he told Blostein that they only recently turned up the heat in his recruitment. He has visited FSU multiple times, but has not been back this year.<\/p>\n

“It’s always been my dream school to go to FSU,” Whitfield said. “But then it was just the last recruiting staff or whatever they had, they wasn’t really recruiting me. But now they’ve got a whole new department, so now they’re back in the conversation.”<\/p>\n

Whitfield is ranked as the No. 695 overall player and No. 69 cornerback in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 62 player from Florida.<\/p>\n

FSU already has three defensive back prospects committed in its 2027 recruiting class<\/a>, led by four-star safety Mekhi Williams, who could potentially play corner at FSU. However, the LSU Tigers<\/a> appear to be on the verge of flipping him away<\/a>. If he does depart the class, their only cornerback commit would be three-star Dayon Cooper.<\/p>\n
