With the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a> less than a month away, Messi is in scorching form for Inter Miami<\/a>. He led the Herons to a thrilling comeback win over FC Cincinnati<\/a>, putting up 2g\/1a, as well as forcing an own goal, in the 5-3 victory<\/a> on Wednesday at TQL Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Argentine legend is up to 11g\/4a on the season and leads the league in goal contributions, while being one off the Golden Boot presented by Audi lead.<\/p>\n

Messi, who has 4g\/5a in his last three matches, is picking up where he left off after winning back-to-back Landon Donovan MLS MVP awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s brilliant what they did today,\u201d Miami manager Guillermo Hoyos said after the match. \u201cIt was an incredible game with ups and downs. We are very happy and comfortable that we can play football at a high level.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a match that needed moments of brilliance, Messi delivered at every turn, guiding the Herons to their second straight win over a fellow Eastern Conference contender.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are players that truly improve and make the league better,\u201d Hoyos said. \u201cFirst, because of the player and person [Messi] is. He puts in a lot of work \u2026 They left everything on the field today.\u201d<\/p>\n

With two games remaining before the World Cup break, Inter Miami are second in the Eastern Conference, two points behind Nashville SC<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
