{"id":2709,"date":"2025-10-14T16:05:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/2709\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T16:05:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:05:29","slug":"fort-lauderdale-suv-crash-sends-escalade-into-river-4-teens-survive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/2709\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Lauderdale SUV crash sends Escalade into river; 4 teens survive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 A quiet Saturday morning turned chaotic in Fort Lauderdale when an SUV and a car collided, sending a black Escalade crashing through a cement barrier and into the river near South Andrews Avenue and Davie Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2025\/09\/06\/accidente-de-suv-en-fort-lauderdale-lanza-una-escalade-al-rio-4-adolescentes-sobreviven\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2025\/09\/06\/accidente-de-suv-en-fort-lauderdale-lanza-una-escalade-al-rio-4-adolescentes-sobreviven\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Mimi Mora, who was waiting at a bus stop nearby, said she witnessed the moment of impact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe next thing you know it was a whole big smash and when it happened, I saw it right on the side,\u201d Mora said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities said inside the Escalade were four teenagers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Passenger Richard Hernandez said an Acura made a U-turn in front of them, causing the SUV to spin out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe were driving regularly down the road, and I guess he just thought, let me bust a U turn in front of a car that\u2019s going 40 miles per hour,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Escalade landed in the water, and Hernandez recalled the frightening moments that followed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe water was getting into the car. It was going in slowly. It was going deeper\u2026 we were able to get out eventually after some guys helped us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Hernandez said the driver, his friend, was taken to the hospital with a severe arm injury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHis arm must have hit the steering wheel it was completely shattered in half,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Despite the violent crash, all four survived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve never been in a car crash like this. This is insane.
