The University of Florida recently\u00a0revealed\u00a0an updated rendering\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0first\u00a0academic\u00a0building\u00a0on\u00a0its\u00a0new\u00a0graduate campus in\u00a0Jacksonville<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0release of the\u00a0updated rendering comes\u00a0after UF announced\u00a0in April that\u00a0it had selected Maryland-based Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate\u00a0as the\u00a0preferred\u00a0developer for the first building<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0graduate\u00a0campus,\u00a0which will\u00a0be\u00a0located\u00a0in\u00a0the historic LaVilla neighborhood in downtown Jacksonville.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to have begun\u00a0design\u00a0and planning for the first new building for UF Jacksonville,\u201d UF Board of Trustees Chair Mori Hosseini said in a statement. \u201cThis updated rendering shows the promise of our efforts.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hosseini\u00a0emphasized\u00a0that the rendering \u201cis a starting point.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will evolve as the developer team and the university work together to refine the vision into what ultimately will be a spectacular facility and the keystone of a world-class\u00a0campus,\u201d he said\u00a0in the statement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Edgemoor was chosen to lead the\u00a0initial\u00a0$287.5 million phase of construction following a \u201ccompetitive process that drew strong interest from development teams nationwide,\u201d according to an\u00a0April UF press release<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Edgemoor\u2019s teammates include a mix of local and national partners such as Clark Construction, Auld & White Constructors, OJB Landscape\u00a0Architecture, HOK, PQH Group Design, England-Thims Miller, Coastal Connections Group and more, according to the release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEdgemoor and their team bring an excellent track record of executing transformative higher education projects on campuses\u00a0throughout\u00a0the country,\u201d Hosseini said in the release.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the Feb. 23 Board of\u00a0Trustees\u00a0meeting agenda, local and state leaders, along with university donors, provided UF with over $300 million to fund the development of\u00a0a campus in Jacksonville.\u00a0The city of Jacksonville also donated\u00a0nearly\u00a025\u00a0acres\u00a0of real property in the LaVilla area to UF for the campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A June 2025\u00a0UF release<\/a>\u00a0said the Jacksonville campus would \u201coffer graduate-level academic programs aligned with the city\u2019s [Jacksonville] workforce needs in fields such as business, health science, engineering,\u00a0law\u00a0and architecture.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
