SANIBEL-CAPTIVA CONSERVATION FOUNDATION
\nThe Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Party on March 13 at the Bailey Homestead Preserve on Sanibel.<\/p>\n

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) reported that volunteers are invaluable to its organization.<\/p>\n

Nearly 300 individuals help support each and every program area. From planting mangroves and monitoring sea turtle nests to its newest volunteers from The International Osprey Foundation, their dedicated time and effort makes it possible for the SCCF to carry out its mission.<\/p>\n

On March 13, the SCCF celebrated and gave thanks to its 2025-26 volunteers during its annual Volunteer Appreciation Party, with special recognition given to those who have been a part of the SCCF family for five years or more.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur amazing volunteers go above and beyond each and every year for our organization,\u201d Coastal Watch Director Kealy Pfau said. \u201cWe can\u2019t begin to thank them enough for all the hard work they do to help fulfill our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event included appetizers, lunch, remarks from Chief Executive Officer James Evans, and a team-based \u201ccase of the missing volunteer\u201d scavenger hunt around the Bailey Homestead Preserve.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be essentially impossible to complete even just monitoring surveys without our volunteer team. Volunteers help us to monitor and conserve wildlife the best that we can and have aided in the growth of our scope of work in areas like research and outreach,\u201d sea turtle biologist Jack Brzoza said. \u201cWe are so grateful for all their hard work and dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n
