{"id":2719,"date":"2025-10-14T16:10:19","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/2719\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T16:10:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:10:19","slug":"residents-of-assisted-living-facility-in-port-st-lucie-speak-out-after-planned-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/2719\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents of assisted living facility in Port St. Lucie speak out after planned closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">WPTV is getting answers over the planned closure of Paradise Care Cottage, an assisted living facility in Port St. Lucie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Thursday, residents received an official notice the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/treasure-coast\/region-st-lucie-county\/port-st-lucie\/residents-given-45-days-to-vacate-port-st-lucie-assisted-living-facility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">facility will close on Aug. 5<\/a>, less than the required 45-day notice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WATCH: Residents of assisted living facility worry about where to go next<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Friday, WPTV reporter Tyler Hatfield learned from staff that the date was a typo and that they will have a full 45 days to find a new home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Phil Morse and his service dog, Jessie, live at Paradise Care Cottage. They are waiting to find out what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt&#8217;s the in-between, not knowing,\u201d said Morse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Morse said he entered the facility after being homeless. After receiving the letter, Morse said he\u2019s uncertain about the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI do not know where I&#8217;m going to go,\u201d said Morse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Resident Bruce Irwin said he\u2019s also waiting for a new home. Irwin said he has no family in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI have no family, no friends to help me,\u201d said Irwin. \u201cSo I&#8217;m just stuck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tina Knutte from Port St. Lucie helped Morse get into Paradise Care Cottage, but doesn&#8217;t know if another place will take him and his dog in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe wont get rid of his dog,\u201d said Knutte. \u201cI promised him when I started helping him that I would keep him and his dog together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WPTV listened to concerns over the notification and is pressing for answers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Cynthia Divincent, an administrator with Paradise Care Cottage, said they\u2019ve been trying to provide housing solutions for each resident, in addition to providing 45-day notice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIf they need more time, we&#8217;ll give them more time. It&#8217;s not the firm date,\u201d said Divincent. \u201cWe will find placement, it will be good placement. We&#8217;re not looking to move them up to Miami. We&#8217;re not looking to move them to Jacksonville.
