MUNCIE, Ind.- The Mid-American Conference kicked off its outdoor championships today and the RedHawks started the championship weekend strong. Mia Boule<\/a> earned the title of MAC outdoor pole vault champion and set a new school record. Matthew Howard<\/a> and Maggie Dougherty<\/a> were both the runners-up in javelin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

HOW IT HAPPENED-

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Richard Obioha<\/a> was fourth in discus, throwing 53.04m and earning the RedHawks five points. Owen Billeter<\/a> was eighth, picking up a point for Miami with a mark of 47.93m. Reilly Worthington<\/a> threw a mark of 46.87m.\u00a0

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0In javelin, Howard took silver with a throw of 62.70m for eight points and Clark Helgason<\/a> threw 54.18m for seventh place and two points for the RedHawks.\u00a0

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Boule placed first in pole vault\u00a0for\u00a0the MAC champion title with a new school record vault of 4.22m.\u00a0

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Dougherty finished in second place in javelin with a mark of 44.72m and Allie Melchiorre<\/a> finished in fifth, picking up four more points for the RedHawks with a throw of 44.06m.

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0In the 1500m prelims, Nora Zubillaga<\/a> qualified for the finals with a time of 4:29.50. \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Camryn Dunn<\/a> qualified for finals in the 200m with a run of 24.08m.\u00a0

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Charles Namiot<\/a> and Patrick Wills<\/a> both scored points for the RedHawks in the 10K, Namiot took fifth, finishing in 30:06.15, and Wills took eighth, finishing in 31:08.69.\u00a0

\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0In the women’s 10K, Ava Nuttall<\/a> finished sixth, scoring five points with a time of 34:10.18.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nThe RedHawks will continue to compete at the MAC Championships in Muncie on Friday, May 15, with the meet set to wrap up on Saturday, May 16.\u00a0
