\u201cKeep Eckerd Weird\u201d, students say, but what really makes Eckerd weird? The people, the place, the language? Dip your toes into Eckerd\u2019s weird terms and phrases to speak like a local Eckerdian.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dirt Lot: The ninth ring of Hell, where unlucky sinners and bad-doers park their cars after looping the Nu lot for 15 minutes. Commonly causes ant infestations and anonymous side swipes. If required to park in the Dirt Lot, beware.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Eating box: The act of eating at the Fusion Box, the food truck outside of the cafeteria. This phrase is not to be confused with the traditional use of the term \u201ceating box.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Example: \u201cI\u2019m hungry. C\u2019mon friends, let\u2019s eat box!\u201d<\/p>\n
Eckerd chickens: The small white birds with orange\/pink legs and similarly colored long curved beaks, referred to as ibis.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Glasshole: Used to describe a person who brings glass to parties or South Beach, often leading to breaking said glass and cutting barefooter\u2019s feet. This is considered to be of high insult to Eckerd students and displays lack of consideration for the free-spirited campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Glitties: Used to describe boobs that are coated in enough glitter to cover all of the \u201cscandalous\u201d skin. Often done so by layering Vaseline and glitter on top of a nipple cover, if the wearer is classy. Note, nip slips acceptable. Traditionally donned at parties Shpace and Kappa Come Out but stylish year-round.<\/p>\n
Glizzy Guys: Eckerd College\u2019s favorite student-run mobile hot dog stand, the classic post-party treat for drunken, dance-tired students. Open 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday nights and the occasional Kappa Saturday.<\/p>\n
Kappa Kough: The sickness that comes from the Kappa. Contracted by hook-ups, sharing bongs and simply living in the vicinity of the Kappa dorm. Cure, unknown.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Kappa Saturday: The weekly event of tanning, drinking and socializing on Kappa Field by Eckerd students. Not to be confused with \u201cKappa Field Day,\u201d a sponsored event by campus clubs and organizations. The two can be distinguished by the casual hangout nature of Kappa Saturday versus the bouncy houses and occasional refreshments at Kappa Field Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Yike: Plural form, yikes. A yellow bike provided by Eckerd College Office of Sustainability for student use, can be used by anyone and left anywhere, as long as it is on campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n
