The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man was found shot on Wrico Drive, and that the exact location of the party is unknown.<\/p>\n
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A man in his early 40s is recovering after being shot in the leg at a party in Jacksonville around midnight Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
JSO Sgt. Johnson said at about 5:45 a.m., officers responded to the 4500 block of Wrico Drive in reference to the man being shot.<\/p>\n
When offiicers arrived, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper thigh. He was then taken to a local hospital, where his injuries were listed as non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n
According to Johnson, preliminary investigation revealed the man had been hanging out at a nearby party at an unknown location when he was confronted by two men. The victim told investigators one of the men pulled out a gun and shot him once in the leg before both suspects ran away.<\/p>\n
“The only suspect description provided by the victim is two black males,” Johnson said. “The direction of travel for the two suspects is unknown at this time.”<\/p>\n
Johnson said detectives and officers canvassed the area where the shooting was believed to have happened, but were unable to locate a crime scene. He added that the victim stated he was shot around midnight, though officers were not notified until several hours later.<\/p>\n
