Blue Collar, the beloved comfort-food destination in Miami\u2019s MiMo neighborhood, will be closing this Sunday, according to a post on the restaurant\u2019s social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter many unforgettable years, this Sunday will be our final day of service on Biscayne Blvd. There are truly no words to express how grateful we are for the love, loyalty and support Miami has shown us throughout this journey,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

The restaurant, which opened in 2012 at 6730 Biscayne Blvd., moved to its current location in the former Balan\u2019s space across the street in 2024. The new space was 4,000 square feet(as opposed to the original space\u2019s 800) with a full bar and a larger kitchen. Owner Danny Serfer designed the new space by thrifting mid-century decor.<\/p>\n

In the statement, Serfer thanked diners for the memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat started as a restaurant became a place filled with memories, celebrations, friendships and so much heart. We\u2019ll be forever thankful for every guest, every regular, every team member and every moment shared here.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year, Serfer announced the closing of Mignonette, his beloved neighborhood bistro in Miami\u2019s Edgewater,<\/a> after 12 years.<\/p>\n

Danny Serfer, owner of Blue Collar in Miami, announced he is closing the local favorite this weekend. <\/p>\n

In a statement to the Miami Herald, Serfer said Blue Collar is \u201canother casualty of these strange times we live in\u201d and announced that he has accepted a role as Director of Culinary at the Kaseya Center. \u201cI am full of gratitude to continue to be able to do what I love: creating food and providing hospitality to the people of the city I call home,\u201d Serfer said.<\/p>\n

Blue Collar fans flooded the comments on the Instagram post, congratulating Serfer for building an institution that will forever be part of Miami\u2019s culinary history.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for all that you have done for the community and all of the wonderful meals and memories that you provided for us all,\u201d wrote chef Allen Susser.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis one hurts,\u201d wrote one fan.<\/p>\n

Serfer says he\u2019s grateful for the outpouring of support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know how special Blue Collar is and what it means to me and our regulars, so I\u2019m not surprised by all the kind words and support. It\u2019s heartwarming and gratifying that people will remember it as a Miami comfort food institution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
