I think the bike component, that’s the one piece we need to figure out for it to be a perfect race.”

Stinson says this was his third Ironman, and if he goes for another, he may look for closed courses in the future.

“It does make you rethink everything, but yeah, I think I’ll be back out there,” said Stinson.

Stinson’s crash happened in the St. Johns County portion of the race, and St. Johns County Fire Rescue reports it had 13 calls with five people taken to the hospital on the St. Johns County portion of the race, plus one vehicle vs. cyclist crash, of course.

Those numbers will likely come up when St. Johns County leaders meet Tuesday to debrief on the traffic and safety impacts.

As for Jacksonville, Arias said the Ironman team will be back in a few weeks to talk with city leaders, where they can explore route alternatives.

[8
116,118,117
post-274802","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-jacksonville","tag-jacksonville","tag-jacksonville-headlines","tag-jacksonville-news
["GET
