{"id":275357,"date":"2026-05-18T17:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T17:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/275357\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T17:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T17:06:09","slug":"miami-international-airports-new-operations-center-to-utilize-ai-enhance-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/275357\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami International Airport&#8217;s new operations center to utilize AI, enhance security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/miami-international-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Miami International Airport<\/a> unveiled a plan Monday morning for a new Airport Operations Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 13,200 square foot hub will be used to enhance security and utilize <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">artificial intelligence<\/a> (AI) to streamline airport operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will also have one of the nation&#8217;s first digital monitoring hubs, which will be equipped with AI cameras and a massive HD quality video wall,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/miami-dade\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Miami-Dade<\/a> County Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/daniella-levine-cava\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Daniella Levine Cava<\/a> said. &#8220;It will give us 360 degree visibility.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>AI will also help with gate assignments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That is meant to enhance the way that we move aircraft, the way we gate aircrafts,&#8221; Chief Executive Officer Ralph Cutie said. &#8220;It just makes our gating operation more efficient. It&#8217;s not meant to replace anybody.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Most importantly, it will house 30 different agencies like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/transportation-security-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Transportation Security Administration<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/miami-dade-sheriffs-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Miami-Dade Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/a>,\u00a0 Border Patrol, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/miami-dade-fire-rescue\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Miami-Dade Fire Rescue<\/a> that currently operate out of the airport.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These are scattered throughout the airport,&#8221; Cava explained. &#8220;They&#8217;d have to call on the telephone to coordinate. Think about that. But now, like in any kind of an emergency situation that arises, we&#8217;ll all be together. That&#8217;s critically important when dealing with any kind of an emergency.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The project will cost an estimated $33 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our airport is run as a self-contained unit. The fees from the airlines, from the concessions, all of it stays right here for operations at the airport,&#8221; Cava said. &#8220;We have been successful in receiving federal and state dollars.
