TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – An arrest has been made in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred nearly a week ago<\/a> on West Tharpe Street in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n

Markus King, 25, was arrested and charged with second-degree homicide after the shooting occurred early Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of West Tharpe Street, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.<\/p>\n

Court records indicated that King was arrested Saturday and is being held without bond. <\/p>\n

The 25-year-old\u2019s arrest comes after officers responded to that area around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday due to reports of a shooting, TPD wrote in its press release Monday. <\/p>\n

Authorities quickly learned that the victim, identified as a male, had been transported to the corner of 7th Avenue and Monroe Street, police said. In a statement to WCTV last week<\/a>, officers clarified that the victim was driven by someone else to the second location at 7th Avenue and Monroe Street after the incident began on West Tharpe Street.<\/p>\n

Police went on to say in their press release Monday that life-saving measures were attempted, but the victim died due to his injuries. <\/p>\n

A further investigation revealed that the victim was asked to leave a business in the West Tharpe Street area just moments before the shooting occurred after an argument with staff, according to police. <\/p>\n

TPD identified the business as the \u201cSound Bar\u201d in its press release Monday.<\/p>\n

However, WCTV talked to Bianca Herndon, who identified herself as the owner of the Sound Bar. Herndon told WCTV the business stopped leasing the building at 1100 West Tharpe Street in November. She said a new operator has been renting the space from the landlord as a venue space and using the business name without her consent. <\/p>\n

WCTV is working to learn more about the current operator.<\/p>\n

The investigation went on to indicate that the disagreement continued outside the business, which TPD said then led to the victim allegedly making threats and entering a vehicle.<\/p>\n

Moments later, King then retrieved a firearm \u201ckept on site for security\u201d and discharged the weapon \u201cmultiple times,\u201d hitting the victim, according to the police statement. <\/p>\n
