{"id":275473,"date":"2026-05-18T18:48:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T18:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/275473\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T18:48:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T18:48:17","slug":"miami-dade-man-felt-bullets-whizzing-by-him-after-neighbor-opened-fire-deputies-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/275473\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami-Dade man felt \u2018bullets whizzing by him\u2019 after neighbor opened fire, deputies say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0May 18, 2026 at 2:26 PM<\/p>\n<p>lead-art-block.fullscreen-enterExpand<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/TYVDZSMC6FC2JDTRE3BCVW5EPQ.jpg\"  width=\"1145\" height=\"644\"\/>Cody Richter (MDCR\/Copyright 2026 Google) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies arrested a man on two felony charges, including attempted murder, after accusing him of shooting at his neighbor just outside of Florida City on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to MDSO, the incident happened just after 10 p.m. at the Goldcoaster trailer park, located near Southwest 344th Street and 187th Avenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said Cody Richter, 29, first fired a shot into his neighbors\u2019 mobile home on Southwest 187th Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An arrest report states that when the two residents came out of their home to see what was going on, Richter fired two shots at one of the neighbors, narrowly missing him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHe was able to feel the bullets whizzing by him,\u201d an MDSO investigator said of one of the neighbors. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said both neighbors ran inside and called 911.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The report states that Richter still had the gun in his hand when deputies arrived. He dropped it, it states, and deputies took him into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the report, Richter claimed that he was shooting at someone \u201cto the right\u201d of his neighbor.
