A bulldog that was found starving and neglected is fighting to survive at a Fort Lauderdale animal hospital.<\/p>\n
Veterinarians told NBC6 that they only give her a one in four chance to live as police investigate who is responsible.<\/p>\n
The 6-year-old bulldog is severely emaciated, dehydrated and having seizures.<\/p>\n
According to i Heart Animal Rescue, the dog was found in a box behind a Walgreens along Broward Boulevard, and now, the medical staff at VEG ER for Pets on Federal Highway are doing all they can to save her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sick to my stomach, I\u2019m in knots right now, my hands are shaking. It\u2019s just horrible,\u201d said Cindy Mucciaccio, with i Heart Animal Rescue.<\/p>\n
Mucciaccio named the dog Miracle because it\u2019s already a miracle that she\u2019s survived this long.<\/p>\n
The dog is eating and is showing signs of improvement, but she\u2019s also having setbacks and has suffered more than one seizure on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce you go into starving mode that\u2019s been going on for 72+ hours, your body wastes away, takes away the muscles to use for energy,\u201d said Dr. Enio Sanmarti, medical director at VEG ER for Pets. <\/p>\n
Thousands of dollars have already been raised to pay for Miracle’s care.<\/p>\n
