MIAMI, May 18, 2026 \u00a0\u2014 Miami Dade College (MDC) and Jackson Health System have united to open Health Science Collegiate Academy<\/a>, designed to prepare students for careers in health care and address South Florida\u2019s growing workforce needs. Leaders from the two institutions shared details of this transformative partnership during a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony on Monday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. at MDC\u2019s Medical Campus. <\/p>\n

The school represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration between MDC and Jackson Health System focused on developing the next generation of health care professionals while expanding educational and career opportunities for Miami-Dade County students.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe launch of the Health Science Collegiate Academy reflects what is possible when education and industry come together to advance student success and strengthen our community,\u201d said MDC President Madeline Pumariega. \u201cThrough this partnership with Jackson Health System, we are building a powerful pipeline of future health care professionals who will serve with skill, compassion and purpose, while helping meet one of South Florida\u2019s most critical workforce needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Set to open in August 2027 in Miami\u2019s Health District, the Health Science Collegiate Academy will create an innovative educational pathway for students interested in pursuing careers in nursing, allied health, health care administration and other high-demand medical fields. Through early exposure to health care education, hands-on learning opportunities and access to college-level coursework, students will gain the academic foundation and practical experience needed to thrive in the health care industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Miami-Dade County continues to grow, so does the need for world-class health care and a strong pipeline of skilled medical professionals,\u201d said Carlos A. Migoya, CEO of Jackson Health System. \u201cJackson Health System is a powerhouse in medicine, and Miami Dade College is a landmark institution known for educational excellence. Bringing these two institutions together to launch this high school is a natural fit \u2014 uniting world-class health care and education to inspire, prepare and train the next generation of health care professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n
