Tabletop & Mah Jongg Club<\/p>\n
12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 10, 17<\/p>\n
Meet up at the library for an afternoon of modern tabletop games. The library has a rotating collection of light- to medium-weight board games or bring your own to teach and share. Some knowledge of the game is required to join our American Mah Jongg game. If you have your own set, we\u2019d love for you to bring it along with a current card from the National Mah Jongg League.<\/p>\n
Knit and Stitch<\/p>\n
9 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 17<\/p>\n
A casual, self-guided group for knitting, crochet and other needle arts. Join in to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers. Personal instruction will not be available.<\/p>\n
Tech Assistance at Your Library: One-on-One Help<\/p>\n

Baby Rhyme Time<\/p>\n

For babies through age 18 months with caregiver. Wiggle and giggle to bond with your baby through books, rhymes and songs in this lap-sit program that introduces early literacy skills and encourages language, motor and social skills. Each program offers literacy tips and strategies to stimulate your baby\u2019s brain development and enhance future reading success.<\/p>\n
Big Stories, Big Science with IMAG<\/p>\n
6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9<\/p>\n
For ages 6-11 years. IMAG joins the library for a fiery summer reading program. Get ready for a messy, hair-raising, explosive, freezing and thrilling show. Watch IMAG create colorful fireballs, ignite giant Whoosh Tubes, light bubbles on fire in their hands, erupt a giant bubbling Nitrogen cloud, create arcs of lightning with their Van de Graff Machine and more. Registration is required and is guaranteed only until the start of the program.<\/p>\n
Community Helper Storytime: Cape Coral Fire Department<\/p>\n
10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11<\/p>\n
For children through age 5 years. Meet our hometown heroes and tour a fire truck. The Cape Coral Fire Department will join us for this special event featuring songs, stories and safety tips. No registration is required, but space is limited.<\/p>\n
Read to Dogs<\/p>\n
11 a.m. Saturday, June 13<\/p>\n
Join us at the library and read to dogs. These registered therapy animals volunteer with their owner\/handler as a team to help kids practice reading. Participating children can read down their fines or just have fun reading to these furry friends. Bring your own book, find a favorite from the library collection or we can choose one for you. Upon arrival, please visit the Youth Desk to pick up a ticket to receive a time slot.<\/p>\n

Children and teens with overdue fines can reduce their fine by $2 for every 15 minutes they read during this program. Each child can earn up to a maximum of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to overdue fines on cards issued to patrons under the age of 18 as well as overdue fines for juvenile and teen materials checked out on their behalf on adult cards. Credit earned may only be used for overdue fines. Please bring your library card and check in at youth desk.<\/p>\n

Professor Universe: The Dino Who Dunnit<\/p>\n

For ages 6-11 years. Join us for a fun, playful, and interactive experience as Professor Universe dreams of dinosaurs still being around. In this paleo-mystery, kids will learn about the carbon cycle, and how its past disruptions have caused extinctions on the earth, while we rock out with a T-rex, too. Dinosaurs, science, and comedy all wrapped into one epic summer reading tale. Registration is required and is guaranteed only until the start of the program.<\/p>\n
Learn, Play & Grow with Healthy Start of SWFL<\/p>\n

For ages 2 months to 5 years. Join us for our Learn, Play and Grow program in partnership with Healthy Start of SWFL. During this summer reading program, free developmental screenings are offered for children ages 2 months \u2013 5 years. Join us at the library where your child can enjoy crafts, books, toys and games that help them learn and grow while parents can ask questions and receive helpful resources. Unearthed Art Cards<\/p>\n

For ages 12-18 years. Join us for a mini art workshop with local artist Jeff Ocasio of Ocasiocasa. Jeff will demonstrate his sculptural techniques with masking tape and each student will get to create their own sculpted art trading cards in this creative summer reading program. Registration is required and is guaranteed only until the start of the program.<\/p>\n
