He is a great selection and has my full support!\u201d<\/p>\n Bell\u2019s academic administration career includes being a provost and professor of engineering at Louisiana State University and the dean of the University of Kansas School of Engineering.<\/p>\n Bell received his doctorate degree in mechanical engineering and Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University.<\/p>\n The recommendation must be approved by the University of Florida Board of Trustees and confirmed by the Florida Board of Governors.<\/p>\n The University of Florida’s search for a full-time president has been up and down in recent years. <\/p>\n Former University of Michigan President Santa J. Ono, Ph.D. was named a finalist to become the president of the University of Florida in May 2025, but the Florida Board of Governors did not confirm<\/a> his recommendation to become president on June 3, 2025.<\/p>\n If confirmed, Bell will replace Kent Fuchs, who was UF’s president from 2015 – 2023. He was replaced by former Nebraska Sen.
