DUNNELLON, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Detectives investigating a missing person case discovered human remains<\/a> at a Dunnellon property on Monday and identified the missing man\u2019s son as a person of interest.<\/p>\n

The Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Office <\/a>said that its deputies began investigating the disappearance of 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada on May 16 after a family member reported he had not been seen since May 7. As the investigation progressed, authorities said they uncovered evidence suggesting foul play, prompting them to reclassify the case as a homicide.<\/p>\n

On May 18, Major Crimes detectives continued their investigation at a home located at 2180 NW 225th Avenue, where they discovered male human remains on the property. Officials said the remains have not yet been positively identified.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, detectives identified Bahamon-Prada\u2019s 25-year-old son, Andres Bahamon, as a person of interest. He was arrested on May 18 on a charge of tampering with evidence in connection with the missing person case. Investigators have not announced any additional charges.<\/p>\n
