FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 North of Blind Creek Beach, a location known for its designated clothing-optional zone, the Little Mud Boat Ramp and surrounding areas have seen a surge in complaints about unauthorized nudity \u2014 prompting continued response from the St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office (SLCSO).<\/p>\n

While renovations at Blind Creek Beach have temporarily disrupted access for some visitors, the sheriff’s office emphasizes that this does not justify extending nude recreation into undesignated public spaces. Officials say some beachgoers have migrated north of the permitted area, prompting concern from both residents and tourists.<\/p>\n

As part of ongoing enforcement efforts, deputies announced on Thursday that they made two additional arrests. The SLCSO said Daphne Gay Duck, 62, and John Wayne Lorton, 66, were charged with Indecent Exposure for violating county ordinances regarding public nudity outside of the designated zone.<\/p>\n

These arrests follow a series of citations and arrests made on October 25, when six people were found nude <\/a>at the Little Mud Boat Ramp, approximately 1.1 miles north of the designated area. Those arrested included Daniel Harrisson, Donald L. Knapp, Gaetane Lambert, Steven Marhenke, Elmer Quandt, and Nickolas Ramos.<\/p>\n

The criminal counts include Indecent Exposure \u2013 Exposure of Sexual Organs, a violation of Florida law, according to the sheriff’s office. (SLCSO)<\/p>\n

Since early September, SLCSO said it has increased patrols in the area, deploying both foot and ATV units. Their efforts have focused on education, outreach, and enforcement, including reminders about clearly posted signage marking the boundaries of the nude-optional zone.<\/p>\n

Deputies also warn that illegal parking<\/a> along A1A poses serious risks to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Enforcement will remain vigilant throughout the duration of the Blind Creek Beach renovation project.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff\u2019s Office reminds the public that clothing-optional activity is only permitted within clearly designated sections of Blind Creek Beach. Visitors are urged to respect posted boundaries, cover up when leaving nude-optional zones, and avoid entering public areas or parking lots without appropriate attire.<\/p>\n
