ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 A bizarre rescue unfolded Tuesday afternoon when a horse named Chevy was successfully freed after becoming stuck in a canal in St. Lucie County.<\/p>\n
The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) said at around 12:45 p.m., crews received a call for assistance after Chevy\u2019s owners discovered him trapped in the waterway. They had been searching for their beloved horse when they found him in distress and immediately contacted emergency services.<\/p>\n
Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of multiple agencies \u2014 including the Fire District, the St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Environmental Resources Department, Animal Control, and local veterinarian Doc Adams \u2014 Chevy was safely rescued and is reported to be doing great.<\/p>\n
Photos taken during the rescue shows the tough spot the horse was in.<\/p>\n
