As one airline exits Fort Lauderdale, another is expanding its footprint.<\/p>\n
Allegiant Air is expanding service with four new nonstop routes out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport starting in the fall.<\/p>\n
The low-cost airline announced the routes<\/a> on Tuesday May 19, with prices starting at $59.<\/p>\n The new flight options out of FLL:<\/p>\n BostonOmaha, NebraskaPittsburghKansas City, Missouri<\/p>\n The expansion comes as the airport continues to adjust after the loss of Spirit Airlines.<\/p>\n In the early-morning hours of May 2, Spirit canceled all flights across the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America, citing a collapse driven by insurmountable financial pressures and a \u201csudden and sustained rise in fuel prices.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Miami Herald, travel analysts have warned that Spirit\u2019s absence could push fares higher<\/a>, particularly at FLL, where the airline carried the largest share of passengers.<\/p>\n Allegiant\u2019s Boston route is scheduled to begin Oct. 1 with introductory one-way fares starting as $79. Flights to Omaha, Kansas City and Pittsburgh begin Oct. 2. Fares start at $79 for Omaha and Kansas City, and $59 for Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re excited to announce these new routes and believe it is an important time for Allegiant to increase travel options in these markets,\u201d Allegiant\u2019s chief commercial officer Drew Wells said.<\/p>\n \u201cOur mission is to offer service where it is needed most, and these additions ensure that affordable fares can remain available to consumers despite industry changes.\u201d<\/p>\n Outside of FLL, Allegiant also announced new service from St. Pete-Clearwater to Philadelphia and Columbia, Missouri; Orlando-Sanford to Trenton, New Jersey; and Punta Gorda to La Crosse, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n Airport data from March 2026<\/a> showed Spirit held the largest share of passenger traffic at FLL with a 24.5% total share, followed by JetBlue at 22%.<\/p>\n Allegiant accounted for 4.1% of passenger traffic in March but saw the largest increase among major carriers that month, with a 26.8% increase.<\/p>\n Tickets for all routes are available on Allegiant\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
