The Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina reopened its new spa on Monday, for the first time since Hurricane Ian. The new spa \u201cAquagene\u201d was remodeled as part of an eight-month project in which the hotel converted some of the old spa treatment rooms into two new 1,500 square foot suites overlooking the bay.<\/p>\n

Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina General Manager Bill Waichulis said it\u2019s all part of a $3 million investment in upgrades at the resort that involved using the extra space to construct two of the largest bayside suites the hotel has to offer.<\/p>\n

The new suites offer some of the great bay views on the island, overlooking Matanzas Pass. Those that stay at one of the new suites also get a chikee hut to use.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese units are drop-dead gorgeous,\u201d Waichulis said. \u201cYou can see the dolphins.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those that stay at the suites, have the options of combining both available suites, which can connect to each other. <\/p>\n

The suites, which each feature two bedrooms and two bathrooms, were converted from former spa treatment rooms. The resort just finished remodeling its spa, which opened Monday.<\/p>\n

The spa features five treatment rooms, offering massage treatments, body treatments, nail treatments, facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures. There are two saunas.<\/p>\n

Gary Lee, Director of Rooms and Spa, said there will be eight employees dedicated to the spa. <\/p>\n

\u201cStaff is excited. This is the last piece to the Ian puzzle,\u201d Lee said. \u201cPeople have been asking a lot about the spa. It\u2019s a long time coming for a lot of our guests.\u201d<\/p>\n

The spa is open to the public, with treatments running between $140 to $265. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been highly anticipated,\u201d Lee said. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to have this back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Waichulis said it was a record-breaking season for the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina. \u201cIt was the busiest year for us ever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

There is currently no timeline on when the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina may construct a new 40-room hotel across the street. The resort received approvals from the town last year for the construction, but those plans are currently on hold as management assesses the construction and financing market.<\/p>\n
