TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A jury deliberated for about an hour Wednesday before finding Tony Balcom<\/a> guilty as charged in the 2023 death of three-year-old Enrique Evans. <\/p>\n

Balcom was convicted of aggravated manslaughter of a child and sentenced to 20 years in prison. <\/p>\n

The toddler\u2019s mother, Cameren Evans<\/a>, was found guilty of the same charge earlier this year and is serving a 19-year prison sentence. <\/p>\n

Little Enrique Evans was found unresponsive<\/a> in Balcom\u2019s Roberts Avenue apartment back on January 23, 2023. <\/p>\n

The medical examiner later discovered the child had ingested a lethal dose of fentanyl, which prosecutors argued Balcom failed to secure in his room. <\/p>\n

There were initially mistrials declared in the trials<\/a> of both Balcom and Evans. Each was retried separately and found guilty in the toddler\u2019s death. <\/p>\n
