(WINK) \u2014 A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winknews.com\/search\/?l=25&amp;s=start_time&amp;sd=desc&amp;f=html&amp;t=article%2Cvideo%2Cyoutube%2Ccollection&amp;app=editorial&amp;nsa=eedition&amp;q=matlacha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Matlacha<\/a> homeowner has been cited by Lee County Code Enforcement for unpermitted work he says he never did.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Knipp&#8217;s home sits right on the water on Pine Island Road Northwest, just after the Matlacha Pass Bridge. The property has given him no problems for the several years he has owned it until now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, I&#8217;m kind of in trouble with code enforcement for something that I&#8217;ve not done,&#8221; Knipp said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leegov.com\/dcd\/CodeEnf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lee County Code Enforcement<\/a> cited Knipp for his raised mobile home. He says he isn&#8217;t the one who raised it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And so now they&#8217;re telling me that I&#8217;m responsible for either putting the trailer back the way it originally was or I&#8217;ve got to buy a permit and comply with them,&#8221; Knipp said.<\/p>\n<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"vlcsnap-2026-05-20-16h53m08s511.png\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full default\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" data- data-\/><\/p>\n<p>Neighbors tell Knipp the home has been that way for more than 20 years. WINK News reached out to the county on his behalf.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for Knipp, it&#8217;s buyer beware. A county spokesperson said when someone buys a property, it is their responsibility to confirm permitted work was performed.<\/p>\n<p>A Lee County spokesperson added that when Knipp bought the property, he should have confirmed that all improvements to the property were properly permitted. For now, getting a permit is the only way to be in compliance.<\/p>\n<p>He has until November.
