PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WDAM) – A criminal investigation has been opened after deputies in Florida responded to a life-threatening call involving a recent Mississippi high school graduate.<\/p>\n

WDAM\u2019s sister station, WJHG, reported that the Bay County Sheriff\u2019s Office said Shannon Thomas Tanner, 19, is brain dead and is expected to be taken off life support on Wednesday, May 20.<\/p>\n

According to the incident report obtained by WJHG, on Sunday, May 18, deputies arrived at a home in Panama City Beach and were told that Tanner had been drinking alcohol. <\/p>\n

The cause of the medical emergency has not been confirmed, and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

According to a GoFundMe set up to help with funeral expenses, Tanner was on his senior trip after graduating from Columbia Academy.<\/p>\n
