A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against SeaWorld<\/a> Orlando after she was allegedly hit in the face by a duck while riding one of the park\u2019s roller coasters earlier this year. <\/p>\n

Per ABC News<\/a>, Hillary Martin, claims she was knocked unconscious and permanently injured during the March 24 incident. The lawsuit, filed Monday, notes that the incident occurred after a duck \u201cflew into the path\u201d while she was riding the park\u2019s Mako roller coaster, causing her \u201closs of consciousness and personal injury.\u201d <\/p>\n

Martin\u2019s legal team from Morgan & Morgan argues that SeaWorld failed to provide a safe environment or warn Martin of potential risks. They specifically claim the park created a \u201czone of danger for bird strikes\u201d because the Mako \u2014 touted as Orlando\u2019s tallest and fastest coaster, reaching 73 mph and 200 feet \u2014 operates at high speed over water in an area known for waterfowl. Furthermore, they claim the ride\u2019s design may \u201cdisorient waterfowls thereby increasing the risk of collision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for \u201cpermanent\u201d injuries, including physical and mental pain and suffering, and the \u201closs of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life.\u201d<\/p>\n

SeaWorld responded to the allegations in a statement to ABC News, saying, \u201cThe safety of our guests and employees is a top priority, and we take these situations seriously. We will not be commenting beyond that as this is pending litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Court records indicate a trial is scheduled for Nov. 8, 2027, in Orlando. A pretrial conference was scheduled for Tuesday, though the outcome remains unclear.<\/p>\n
